What is amazing about interactive projects is that they empower their audience to take real-life action and create positive change in the world.
The Tiziano | 360° Kurdistan is one of these wonderful non-profit projects. And very well-deserved they won the interactive award in the Activism category at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festvial on March 15 this year.
The purpose of the project is to provide a complete understanding of life, culture and news in present-day Iraqi Kurdistan. When visiting the web site you get to navigate through pictures, videos and narratives delivered by both professional multimedia journalism mentors and Iraqi citizens living in the Kurdish North thereby seeing their world through different lenses – a 360 degrees view.
The Tiziano Project provides new media tools and training to community members in conflict, post-conflict and developing regions and they are dedicated to expanding knowledge and access to information worldwide by empowering communities to tell their stories.
Through innovative use of information technology, they work towards the betterment of the human condition – one story at a time – by creating jobs and providing educational opportunities in forgotten parts of the world.
What a great idea!
All the best
